Torklio — 10-Call Receptionist Challenge (Sample Data)

Sample data only. Placeholder scores and transcripts showing how a Torklio 10-call test report will be laid out. No calls have been placed; nothing here measures the product.

Test setup

  • Test tenant: Northside Plumbing (test tenant), a fictional residential plumbing company. The same tenant is used for every provider in the challenge.
  • Published hours entered as 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Google Calendar connected with two open slots (Tuesday 1:00 PM and Thursday 3:30 PM) plus one existing test booking for the reschedule call.
  • Emergency instruction: active leaks or no water after hours go to the on-call line; collect the address and a callback number first.
  • Transfer rule: a caller who asks for a person is transferred to the owner's cell during business hours; outside hours a message is taken.
  • Standard receptionist setup fields only; no custom prompting beyond what the product exposes to a normal customer.

Evaluator summary

SAMPLE DATA — no calls have been placed to Torklio. Every score, transcript, timestamp and note on this page is placeholder content used to design the test-report layout. The sample places Torklio in the middle-to-upper part of the range on purpose so that the page cannot be read as a marketing claim by the publisher, who has a financial interest in Torklio. When the 10-call challenge is actually run, this summary will describe what happened on each call: whether the two open calendar slots were offered correctly, whether the emergency instruction was followed after hours, how the 'real person' request was handled against the transfer rule, and what the post-call summary contained. Until then, treat this page as a wireframe with realistic-looking text. The scenario catalog and rubric linked below are real and apply to every provider equally.

Strengths

  • Sample: placeholder strength showing where a scheduling-focused product would be expected to score, pending real calls.
  • Sample: placeholder strength for lead capture; replaced with observed behavior after the test is run.
  • Sample: placeholder strength for accuracy under price pressure; replaced with observed behavior after the test is run.

Failures

  • Sample: placeholder failure entry illustrating a marginal pass on the human-request scenario.
  • Sample: placeholder failure entry illustrating a secondary detail accepted without confirmation on the bad-connection call.

  1. Torklio

Thanks for calling Northside Plumbing, this is the front desk. How can I help you today?

  2. Caller

Hi, I need someone to look at a slow kitchen drain. Do you have anything next Tuesday afternoon?

  3. Torklio

I can do that. I have Tuesday at 1:00 PM open. Would that work for you?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: offers a specific slot from the calendar instead of an open-ended question.

  4. Caller

    One o'clock is fine.

  5. Torklio

Great. Can I get your name and the best number to reach you?

  6. Caller

    Alex Rivera, 555-0142.

  7. Torklio

Thank you, Alex. I have 555-0142. You're booked for Tuesday at 1:00 PM for a slow kitchen drain. Anything else I can help with?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: reads the number back and restates the booked time.

  8. Caller

    No, that's it. Thanks.

  9. Torklio

You're welcome. We'll see you Tuesday.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Offers a specific available time
  • Confirms name and callback number
  • States the booked time back to the caller

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run offers one of the two open calendar slots rather than asking the caller to pick a time blindly.
  • Sample: the callback number is read back digit by digit before the booking is confirmed.
  • Sample: the call closes with the booked day and time stated once more.

Key moments

  • Caller asks for Tuesday afternoon
  • Slot offered
  • Booking confirmed back to caller

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the baseline booking call. A full-score run in this scenario offers a concrete open slot, captures name and callback number, and repeats the booked time before the goodbye. Nothing here reflects an observed Torklio call; the text exists to size the notes panel.

  1. Torklio

Thanks for calling Northside Plumbing, this is—

  2. Caller

Yeah hi, I need a water heater looked at, Monday works.

Evaluator: Sample annotation: caller cuts the greeting off.

  3. Torklio

Monday, got it. Morning or afternoon?

  4. Caller

Actually, make it Wednesday. No—Thursday. Thursday afternoon.

  5. Torklio

Thursday afternoon. I have 3:30 PM open on Thursday.

  6. Caller

    Fine, fine, 3:30.

  7. Torklio

Can I get your name and—

  8. Caller

    Sam Okafor, 555-0177.

  9. Torklio

Thanks, Sam. Just to confirm, that's Thursday at 3:30 PM for a water heater. Correct?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: confirms the last day mentioned, not the first.

  10. Caller

    Yes.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Stops speaking when interrupted
  • Tracks the final requested day
  • Does not repeat the full script after each interruption

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run yields the floor within a second of the caller talking over it.
  • Sample: the final requested day (Thursday, after two changes) is the one that gets booked.
  • Sample: a partial deduction would apply if the greeting or a full question were restarted after each interruption.

Key moments

  • First interruption during greeting
  • Caller changes day the second time
  • Final day confirmed

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the barge-in scenario. A strong run stops mid-sentence when the caller talks over it and keeps only the last requested day. The deduction shown here illustrates the common failure of re-reading a full question after every interruption; it is not an observed Torklio behavior.

  1. Torklio

Northside Plumbing, how can I help?

  2. Caller

Hi, um, there's a noise under the sink and sometimes the floor is a little wet? I don't really know what it is.

  3. Torklio

No problem, we can figure that out. Is the wet spot under the kitchen sink or a bathroom sink?

  4. Caller

    Kitchen.

  5. Torklio

And is the noise there all the time, or only when the water is running?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: narrows the symptom without proposing a diagnosis.

  6. Caller

Only when the dishwasher runs, I think.

  7. Torklio

That's helpful. I can't tell you what it is over the phone, but a technician can look and give you options on site. Would you like me to set that up?

  8. Caller

What do you think it costs?

  9. Torklio

I don't want to guess at a price without someone seeing it. The technician will go over cost before doing any work.

Evaluator: Sample annotation: no invented price.

  10. Caller

    Okay, sure, set it up.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Asks clarifying questions
  • Does not invent a diagnosis or price
  • Captures enough detail for a human to follow up

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run asks two or three narrowing questions (where, how long, is water present) instead of guessing.
  • Sample: no diagnosis and no price is stated; the caller is told a technician will assess it.
  • Sample: the message captured includes the symptom description in the caller's own words.

Key moments

  • Vague symptom described
  • First clarifying question
  • Details captured, next step offered

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the clarification scenario. The pass here illustrates a receptionist that narrows a vague problem with short questions, declines to name a cause or a cost, and leaves the technician a usable summary. This is what the panel will look like once a real Torklio call is scored.

Transcript

    Northside Plumbing, front desk.

  2. Caller

How much to replace a water heater? Just give me a number.

  3. Torklio

It depends on the unit and the install, so I can't give you an accurate number over the phone. We can send someone out for a free estimate.

  4. Caller

Everyone says that. Ballpark. Two thousand? Three?

  5. Torklio

I understand you want a number, and I don't want to give you one that turns out wrong. The estimate visit is where you'd get a real figure.

Evaluator: Sample annotation: holds the line without fabricating a price.

  6. Caller

    Fine. When can someone come?

  7. Torklio

I have Thursday at 3:30 PM. Would that work, and can I get your name and number?

  8. Caller

    Alex Rivera, 555-0142. Thursday's fine.

  9. Torklio

Booked, Thursday 3:30 PM, estimate for a water heater replacement. We'll call 555-0142 if anything changes.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Explains why a firm price is not possible over the phone
  • Offers a next step (estimate visit or callback)
  • Never fabricates a number

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run explains once, plainly, why a firm number needs an on-site look.
  • Sample: an estimate visit or owner callback is offered as the next step.
  • Sample: under repeated pressure the receptionist still does not produce a figure.

Key moments

  • Caller demands an exact price
  • Second push for a number
  • Estimate visit offered

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the pricing-pressure scenario. A pass means the receptionist holds the line on not quoting a job that requires an estimate, and converts the pressure into a next step. The sample deduction represents a slightly long explanation; it is not an observed Torklio trait.

Northside Plumbing. We're closed right now, but I can help with an emergency.

  2. Caller

Yes, water is coming through my ceiling from the upstairs bathroom!

  3. Torklio

That is an emergency. First, if you can safely reach the main shutoff, turn it off. What is the address?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: urgency recognized; follows the emergency instruction.

  4. Caller

    1400 Test Street, unit 2.

  5. Torklio

1400 Test Street, unit 2. And a number the on-call plumber can reach you at?

  6. Caller

    555-0177.

  7. Torklio

Got it. I'm sending this to the on-call line now. Someone will call 555-0177 shortly. Stay near the phone.

  8. Caller

    Okay. Thank you.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Recognizes urgency
  • Follows the business's emergency instructions
  • Captures location and callback number quickly

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run recognizes 'water is coming through the ceiling' as urgent within the first exchange.
  • Sample: the after-hours emergency instruction is followed rather than offering a next-day slot.
  • Sample: the deduction shown represents collecting the address later in the call than the instruction requires.

Key moments

  • Urgent situation reported
  • Urgency acknowledged
  • Address and callback captured

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the after-hours emergency. The pass illustrates a receptionist that shifts to the emergency instruction immediately and gathers location and callback before anything else. The sample deduction stands in for a small ordering issue and does not describe Torklio.

Northside Plumbing, how can I help?

  2. Caller

Hi, this is Sam Okafor. I have a plumber coming tomorrow morning but I need to move it to later in the week.

  3. Torklio

Sure, Sam. I see the visit tomorrow at 9:00 AM for a leaking faucet. Later in the week I have Thursday at 3:30 PM.

Evaluator: Sample annotation: identifies the existing appointment before offering alternatives.

  4. Caller

    Thursday at 3:30 works.

  5. Torklio

I've moved it. Tomorrow's 9:00 AM is cancelled and you're now on Thursday at 3:30 PM. Still 555-0177 for the reminder?

  6. Caller

    Yes.

  7. Torklio

Perfect. Thursday at 3:30. Anything else?

  8. Caller

    No, thanks.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Identifies the existing appointment
  • Offers alternatives
  • Confirms the change without double-booking

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run finds the existing test booking from the caller's name or number.
  • Sample: alternatives come from real calendar availability, not a generic list.
  • Sample: the old slot is released and the new one confirmed in the same call.

Key moments

  • Caller asks to move tomorrow's visit
  • Existing booking identified
  • New time confirmed

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the modification scenario. A pass requires locating the existing booking, offering only slots that are genuinely open, and confirming the change without leaving the old appointment on the calendar. This sample shows a clean pass; it is not derived from a real Torklio call.

  2. Caller

I want to talk to a real person.

  3. Torklio

I can connect you with the owner. Can I tell them briefly what it's about?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: acknowledges on the first request.

  4. Caller

No. I said I want a real person.

  5. Torklio

Understood. Transferring you to the owner now. Please hold.

  6. Caller

    Fine.

  7. Torklio

If the owner doesn't pick up, I'll take a message and they'll call you back.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Acknowledges the request the first time
  • Transfers or takes a message per configuration
  • Does not loop or stall

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run acknowledges 'I want a real person' the first time it is said.
  • Sample: the configured rule (transfer during hours, message after) is applied.
  • Sample: the deduction shown stands in for one extra qualifying question asked after the caller had already refused.

Key moments

  • First request for a person
  • Second request
  • Transfer attempted

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the escalation scenario. The bar is simple: acknowledge on the first request, act on the configured rule, and never loop. The sample shows a marginal pass to demonstrate what a 6 looks like in the layout; it is not an observed Torklio behavior.

Do you guys know if the city is going to raise water rates next year?

  3. Torklio

I'm not able to speak to city water rates. Is there something plumbing-related I can help you with today?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: declines without hallucinating and steers back.

  4. Caller

Yeah, actually, my outdoor spigot drips constantly.

  5. Torklio

We can take a look at that. Do you want to schedule a visit, or would you like a callback first?

  6. Caller

    Schedule it.

  7. Torklio

I have Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Name and callback number?

  8. Caller

    Alex Rivera, 555-0142.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Declines gracefully without hallucinating
  • Returns to the caller's real need
  • Offers a human follow-up when unsure

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run declines the off-topic question in one sentence without inventing an answer.
  • Sample: it returns to the caller's real plumbing need on its own.
  • Sample: when unsure, a human follow-up is offered rather than a guess.

Key moments

  • Off-topic question
  • Graceful decline
  • Real request handled

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the unscripted-question scenario. The pass illustrates a short decline, a pivot back to the plumbing request, and an offer to have a person follow up on anything the receptionist cannot answer. Nothing in this panel reflects a real Torklio call.

Hi, I need— [audio drops] —the garbage disposal.

  3. Torklio

I'm sorry, you cut out for a second. Could you say that again?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: asks for a repeat rather than guessing.

  4. Caller

    The garbage disposal is jammed.

  5. Torklio

Got it, a jammed disposal. What's a good callback number?

  6. Caller

It's five five five... [mumbled] ...forty-two.

  7. Torklio

I want to make sure I have that right. Was that 555-0142?

  8. Caller

    Yes.

  9. Torklio

    Thanks. And your name?

  10. Caller

    Alex Rivera.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Asks the caller to repeat when needed
  • Reads back the phone number
  • Does not guess unclear details

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run asks the caller to repeat when words drop out rather than filling in the gap.
  • Sample: the phone number is read back before the call ends.
  • Sample: the deduction shown stands in for one address detail accepted without confirmation.

Key moments

  • First dropout
  • Number mumbled
  • Number read back

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the degraded-audio scenario. A pass means the receptionist asks for a repeat instead of guessing and reads the number back. The sample deduction illustrates a plausible partial failure on a secondary detail; it is not a Torklio observation.

We just bought an older house and the inspector says it needs a full repipe. We close in three weeks. How fast can someone come look?

  3. Torklio

That's a big project, and the timeline matters. Let me get the details so the owner can call you today. What's the address?

Evaluator: Sample annotation: recognizes scope and urgency, escalates to owner follow-up.

  4. Caller

    2200 Sample Avenue.

  5. Torklio

And your name and best number?

  6. Caller

    Sam Okafor, 555-0177.

  7. Torklio

Thanks, Sam. Whole-house repipe at 2200 Sample Avenue, closing in three weeks. I'm flagging this as a priority. The owner will call 555-0177 today to set up a walkthrough.

  8. Caller

    Great, thank you.

Pass / fail criteria

  • Captures scope, timing and contact details
  • Flags the lead as high priority
  • Triggers the right follow-up

Observations

  • Sample: a passing run captures scope (whole-house repipe), timing (closing in three weeks) and contact details.
  • Sample: the lead is marked high priority in the post-call summary.
  • Sample: an owner notification is triggered rather than a routine message.

Key moments

  • Large project described
  • Timing and scope captured
  • Priority follow-up promised

Evaluator notes

Sample: placeholder notes for the high-value-lead scenario. The pass illustrates capturing scope, timeline and contact, flagging the caller as high priority, and triggering an owner follow-up. Scores and notes here are placeholders and say nothing about how Torklio actually performs.
